HOW DOES THE CALLER RUN MY EVENT?
BARN DANCE
The Barn Dance Caller normally will supply his
own Recorded Music using a sound system plus a Microphone for
instructions, live bands can be obtained if within your
budget.
To start the Dancing the Caller will
introduce, explain and teach various Dances using different
standard formations such as Circles, Squares and Longways,
Calling or prompting the dancers where to go, what to do, and
who to do it with!!
The Dances are sometimes walked through to
start with without music, sometimes with music to give a feel
for the rhythm and speed of each dance, generally its accepted
no one will be perfect!!
During the course of the evening the dancers
will learn various movements, increase their Dancing skills
whilst of course thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Dont forget the Caller is
in charge--always reminding people what to do--so there is no
need for anyone to worry about forgetting the next move or
doing the wrong thing---even so Dancers can get
confused--which is part of the FUN!
The emphasis is on having FUN and not taking
things too seriously.
The big advantage normally of having a Barn
Dance evening with an experienced Caller is that dancing
starts at the beginning of the evening not at the end.
There are breaks between Dances to get your
breath back and socialise with friends, music playing in the
background will
keep toes tapping away whilst looking
forward to the next Dance.
